
Leona Louise Lewis, born 3 April 1985, is an actor musician, activist, and singer born in Britain. Born in the London Borough Of Islington she was educated at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis achieved national recognition as she won the third series on The X Factor 2006 and received a contract worth PS1,000,000 together with Syco music. A cover of Kelly Clarkson's"A Moment Like This" was her prize. The album sold 50,000 downloads in less than 30 minutesand remained at No. 1 for four weeks. In February 2007, Lewis has signed a deal for five albums in the United States with Clive Davis's label, J Records. Lewis's successes continued when she released her debut album Spirit (2007). The album is certified platinum within the UK and became the fourth most-sold album of the 2000s. Spirit is, as per Official Charts Company is the record-breaking debut album of the 21st century of a female artist. "Bleeding Love", the lead single of Spirit, remained No. 1 within the UK for seven weeks. It also was the UK's best-selling single. The track was the highest-seller of 2008, as well. Lewis won an award for her work, the Billboard Award for Best New Artist. In 2009, she dropped her second studio album, Echo, and recorded the theme song, "I See You", for the film Avatar. Lewis also debuted "Collide," a joint project along with Swedish DJ Avicii. In the year 2011, she also dropped Hurt an extended performance of her debut EP. Glassheart (2012) is Lewis' 3rd studio album. It marked Lewis her first foray into electronic music and dubstep. During her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she started recording music for her first Christmas album. Christmas, with Love came out later in the year. The album's first single, "One More Sleep", peaked at number three on the charts in the UK. It led to Lewis her the only British single female singer to reach the top fivespot, with eight singles. She also overtook Olivia Newton-John's record for seven singles.
