Lars MikkelsenWhen he was 27, he was enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark where he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his role in the drama series aired worldwide under the name The Killing, he subsequently played in two other critically highly acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He was also a key role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as a blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In American television series House of Cards, his character was the President of Russia. In 2018, he was awarded an International Emmy Award for his character as the president of Russia in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This was broadcast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in the year 2019. In addition to his home country of Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English, and he has mastered various accents. He has stated that he and his brother initially started learning English through listening to Monty Python records and learning the comedy sketches
